Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Sky Scrawl Publishing (“Sky Scrawl,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of the skyscrawl.com website and all related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing or using our Services, submitting a manuscript, or entering into a publishing agreement with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Services.

Eligibility

To use our Services and submit manuscripts, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
• Provide accurate and complete information when requested
• Not be prohibited from using our Services under applicable law

If you are submitting work on behalf of a minor author (under 18), you must be their legal guardian and agree to these Terms on their behalf.

Manuscript Submissions

Submission Guidelines

When you submit a manuscript to Sky Scrawl, you represent and warrant that:

• You are the sole author and copyright owner of the work, or you have obtained all necessary rights and permissions
• The work is original and does not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights
• The work does not contain defamatory, libelous, or unlawful content
• You have not granted exclusive publishing rights to another publisher for the same work
• All factual statements are accurate to the best of your knowledge
• The work complies with our submission guidelines and content standards

Submission Review Process

• No Guaranteed Acceptance: Submission does not guarantee publication. We accept a limited number of manuscripts each quarter.
• Response Timeframes: We provide estimated response times on our FAQ page, but these are not guarantees.
• Feedback: We may provide feedback on submissions but are not obligated to do so.
• Simultaneous Submissions: You may submit to other publishers simultaneously unless and until you sign an exclusive contract with us.

Retention and Use of Submissions

By submitting a manuscript:

• You grant us a non-exclusive right to review and evaluate your work
• Declined submissions are retained for 90 days for reference, then permanently deleted
• We do not claim ownership of your work unless you sign a publishing contract
• You retain all rights to your manuscript unless explicitly transferred via contract

Publishing Agreements

If we offer to publish your work, we will provide a formal publishing contract that supersedes these general Terms of Service for matters related to that specific work. The publishing contract will include:

• Grant of publishing rights (print, digital, audio, etc.)
• Territory and languages covered
• Contract term and reversion clauses
• Royalty rates and payment terms
• Editorial and production process
• Marketing and promotional obligations
• Author warranties and indemnification
• Termination conditions

You will have adequate time to review the contract and consult with legal or literary representation before signing. We encourage all authors to seek professional advice before entering into publishing agreements.

Intellectual Property Rights

Sky Scrawl Content

All content on the Sky Scrawl website—including text, graphics, logos, images, design elements, and software—is owned by Sky Scrawl Publishing or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may view and download content for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, display, perform, or create derivative works from our website content without our express written permission.

Author-Owned Content

Unless transferred by contract:

• You retain copyright ownership of your submitted manuscripts
• We do not acquire rights to your work through submission alone
• Published authors retain copyright in their name (the book cover will display “© [Year] [Author Name]”)
• Sky Scrawl licenses specific publication rights as defined in the publishing contract

Trademarks

“Sky Scrawl,” “Sky Scrawl Publishing,” and our logo are trademarks of Sky Scrawl Publishing. You may not use our trademarks without prior written consent.

Acceptable Use Policy

When using our Services, you agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
• Submit content that is defamatory, obscene, harassing, or hateful
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation of our Services
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or networks
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access our website without permission
• Submit plagiarized or previously published work as original
• Engage in fraudulent or deceptive practices

Publication does not guarantee commercial success, specific sales figures, or awards. Book sales depend on many factors beyond our control, including market conditions, reader preferences, and competition.

Limitation of Liability

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sky Scrawl Publishing, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

Termination

• You breach these Terms

• You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
