Next week, Sky Scrawl begins its reader preview series for Crack Code: Semester 2, bringing six acts of the novel to a new group of independent readers selected from the wider reading community.
A new set of readers has finished reading Crack Code: Semester 2.
Next week, their reactions begin.
Sky Scrawl will publish a new six-act preview series leading into the launch of Crack Code: Semester 2, with readers taking the book on in sections and sharing their impressions as they move through the story.
This time, the previews come from a randomized selection of readers drawn from the wider reading community, including readers accustomed to discovering and reviewing books through platforms such as Goodreads and StoryGraph.
The intention is straightforward: let readers read the book first, then hear what they actually thought.
No assigned opinions.
No predetermined scores.
No scripted reactions.
Just readers.
Each preview will feature five different reader perspectives, with readers approaching the novel from different angles. Some will focus closely on character development and relationships. Others will look at the mystery and unfolding plot. Some will respond primarily to the college setting and everyday details, while others will consider the structure, themes, pacing and emotional payoff.
The result is not intended to be a single consensus review.
It is a collection of reactions.
Some readers may agree. Some may not. Some may connect strongly with characters another reader finds frustrating. Others may notice details that someone else passes over entirely.
That difference is part of the point.
Six Acts. Two Preview Waves.
The preview series will follow the novel across all six acts, with the first wave covering Acts I–III and the second continuing through Acts IV–VI.
The first half introduces the semester, its relationships, its tensions and the questions that begin to form around Ishwaak and the people around him.
The latter half follows those questions forward — and into their consequences.
Each release will remain non-spoilery, giving prospective readers a sense of the experience without giving away the story's major turns.
The previews will also go beyond simply asking whether the book is “good.”
Readers will be asked, implicitly, to answer the questions that matter more:
Did the characters feel real?
Did the relationships feel earned?
Did the mystery hold together?
Did the college actually feel lived in?
Did the emotional moments land?
And, most importantly, did the story make them want to keep reading?

Goodreads and StoryGraph have become important spaces for readers to record their reactions, discover books and share independent perspectives. Goodreads has also highlighted the importance of authentic early reader feedback and advance-reader perspectives in helping readers evaluate upcoming books.
Sky Scrawl's upcoming previews take that idea one step further.
Rather than presenting a single editorial verdict, the series will put multiple readers side by side.
Five readers.
Different tastes.
Different expectations.
